I heard this from a service advisor at a Honda dealership hence my reluctance to believe him. So can anyone confirm if I should make sure my brake pads come from Honda.
I think I've heard it from someone before back in the day but I'm not sure.|||Yeah right.
And always use only "Genuine Epson Ink" in your Epson printer.
It's worth it, even though it costs 4 times as much as the stuff you can get online that works just fine!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
But seriously, use a good quality brand, with shims and anti-rattle clips if equipped, and do the rest of the job properly, and you'll be fine.|||most of the time brake pads squeak is not the fault of the pad ...its the fault of the technician that preformed the brake service.......the biggest difference in the cost of the pads are ...how long they last....what they use for a bonding agent, and material quality......ceramic pads are ok if you want oem.....but regular pads are good...now to the issue of noise.....most pad sets come with a glue substance to help the pads adhere to the caliper...but the squeaking comes from 1..not cutting the rotors correctly 2 not burnishing in the brake pad correctly when the job is completed.....they also make a spray to put on the rotors to help with this issue....if u would like more info e-mail me...I'm sure the guy at Honda tells people that stuff all day long....your average guy doesn't know (or care) about brakes all he knows is he needs brakes to stop his car and he wants a good job at a fair price....and this is not the case at the dealer most times...so in this case ....hes wrong! good luck|||In my experience that is an untrue statement. However by using the cheaper after market brake pads you are more likely to have a squeak. For the best results with aftermarket pads by the premium quality brake pads made from the same composition material your car originally came with.|||when they stopped making the asbestos pads, this problem became a pain it the a*%26amp;. yes honda brake pads can make a lot of noise. what you could try is the shims that go between the pad and the caliper, or the stop squeak compounds. they do help. at the same time you need to get rid of as much of the dust as you can, that dust can also make a noise.|||well any can squeak ... most of the time its because... it wasnt done right ,,, wore out,,,, rusted....or the hardest of the pads.... dont let them fool ya he gets his brake pads cheap.... call a round to a few shops get a better price... and dont use dealers for auto repair unless you cant find anyone to do the work anywhere else.... or its under warranty and its covered under it..... only a few makers of brake pads only four or so thats top and they make the most pads for every one so some times you get some made by them but with a company like honda name on it.... it pays to shop a round and find a place that has been in business a long time and have them do the work would be cheaper and smarter not to do much business with any dealer.... guys are most always young and work on new cars... with few problems not trying to say they dont know but they dont know alot but book smarts|||I would NOT say ANY beside honda but - YES they squeak.
Some squeak because they are high performance - other because they are cheapies. I installed after market pad (high performance) in my Audi and they squeak - crap.

If the prices is about the same, you can always get replacement pad from honda and replace it yourself.
Good Luck...|||He's just trying to sell you Honda pads, he's full of crap!, go to any parts store and get the medium priced pads or the better pad and you will be fine, raybestos makes a real good pad that I always use on my vehicles and never had a squeeling problem with them.|||OLLICKS
HALFORDS WILL SELL YOU CHEEP AND NASTY
STILL WONT SQUEAK IF FITTED CORRECTLY
WE HAVE A LOCAL COMPANY CALLED WESTERN FRICTION THESE ARE A LOT CHEAPER THAN HONDA BUT AS GOOD AS
HE IS A LYING TOAD TRYING TO SELL YOU HIS OVERPRICED PADS
I ALWAYS SUPPLY MY OWN PARTS AS THEY ARE NORMALLY COMPARABLE TO BUT A LOT CHEAPER THAN THERE'S|||Usually. If you can find aftermarket ceramic pads they probably will not squeak.|||today brake pads from your local auto parts store work fine and don't squeak. Just make sure new brake pads have shims on the back of them (shims is thing that make it quiet).
