I have a 1971 Honda Sl 100 and I am not sure if it is a K2 or if there is a simple way to tell. I wanted to order parts off the honda website and I am not sure if the K2 speedometer will work. Thanks in advance.||| 1970= K0
'71=K1
'72=K2
Those 3 all have same Speedo.
Honda # 37200-110-780
......................................鈥?br>
'73=K3 has different meter,,,it's mounting is different,,and it's face is also
......................................鈥?br>
On the Early ones,,,the 2 mounting studs are positioned at
roughly 10:00 %26amp; 2:00 O'clock position,,,relative to the Drive Connection
Bolt,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Bolt
,,,,,,,,,,Drive,,,,,,,,,,(or center,,,needle pivot)
......................................鈥?br>
1973 K3's are sorta Opposite
,,,,,,,,,DRIVE,,,,,,,
Bolt,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Bolt
They also have a big rubber ring "cushion mount" that cups the bottom of the speedo,,,,
The earlier ones dont.
In "worst case",,,the Speedos Can be Interchanged.
But it requires "Everything" to mount the speedo,,,
and the wiring for the lights%26gt;%26gt;I just cannot recall what's required for a swap
I "THINK" the K3 had an Indicator Light in Speedo for turn signals,,,and earlier ones did not.....????
Basic instrument %26amp; lighting is "adaptable",,,,but it's an effort.

To Identify exactly which year/model you have,,
1970%26gt;K0,,,,(or "NO K" )
Serial Number began at # SL100-100001
'71%26gt;K1
Serial Number began at # SL100-200001
'72%26gt;K2
Serial Number began at # SL100-1200001
"73%26gt;K3
Serial Number began at # SL100-1300001
Your Number will be Between 2 of those,,,,and belongs to the Series' Starting Number Group.
Your 1971,,for example.
It's Serial Number will be
%26gt;Higher than SL100-200001
Lower than a '72's Beginning #SL100-1200001
Hope that helps.|||The K2 is a newer machine and I believe all the parts are interchangeable.|||In my experience with Honda. K2 will be the newest model. Unless it is a K3 or k4. Sorry lawnmower jingle.
