How much do Honda plant machinists make on average?

How much would it cost to install an iPod jack in a Honda Fit?

Honda Civic Door Gasket Starting to Fall off. How can I BEST stick it back on?

Hello,

I have a 2001 Honda Civic LX 2-Door. The passenger side door gasket is falling off. It dangles and gets caught in the door. Some moisture gets in and also there is a wind noise issue on the expressway. Anyhow, could someone recommend a good adhesive and technique to get the gasket fully back on the door? Pro and expert answers only please; I could think of paste, superglue, etc on my own. Thanks for your help!|||Use 3M weather strip adhesive. It is great stuff.|||There is a product called 'weatherstrip ' adhesive , sort of like contact cement , used in body shops and available at most parts jobbers.

What does it mean that a Honda is more reliable than other brands?

For example, if I buy a Honda minivan that's 7 years old, is it likely to have a lot less maintenance cost than if I buy a Chevy minivan that's 7 years old? Is that what is meant by being more reliable?|||unchesquirne|||No. Maintenance costs are probably higher on the Honda than the Chevy. As for reliability both are very dependable and will likely never leave you stranded. Hondas are renown for their build quality both inside and out. They use high quality plastics and metals and the engineering is always top-notch. A well maintained Honda will give you 300,000 miles of usage before it's completely worn out where the Chevy may get you 200,000 before you are sick of it falling apart. A Peugeot, for example, begins falling apart the moment you drive it off the lot and a Daewoo is falling apart on the showroom floor. It's all relative -- you get what you pay for.|||its called advertising/still a lot of 69 and 70 chevy trucks around/no 70 honda trucks around/not one/and no cars either/they came out with the little egg box honda in 72/they have a good car and so does toyota/ford/mazda/bmw/etc|||No, it means it won't break down and have less problems, but the Chevy would probably be cheaper to maintain.|||cars r like people...some healthy and live a long time...others break down and die

What order do I put the sparkplug wires in on a 97 honda civic?

I recently replaced the sparkplugs with a new wire set. Now the engine isn't running right and the check engine light flashes. I looked around on some forums (honda-tech) and it looks like i need to put them in a certain order (firing order?). The question is which order.

Thanks in advanced!|||Follow the center of the distributor cap where a line bridges to a point outside of the cap. Use this as a guide for your starting point and work your way around clockwise to each 4 points. First point connects to spark plug 4, next connects to spark plug 2, next connects to spark plug 1, and finally spark plug 3.

Spark plug 1 is the one closest to your belts on the right side of the engine, while spark plug 4 is the one closest to your distributor on the left side of the engine.

These specifications haven't change between the Civic 92 - 98 models. Make sure you get this right and confirm with a Honda Civic Service Manual if necessary. Sparking the wrong cylinders to work against each other can damage your engine.

Hope this helps!|||1342 starting from the puley side of the motor|||starting on the back bottom place on the dist cap and going clockwise should be 2, 1, 3, 4. the number one cylinder is the one closest to the belts. that should get you going

Why is it no other manufacturers can reproduce the quality of the Honda inverter generators?

Why is it no other manufacturers can reproduce the quality of the Honda inverter generators? I wouldn't think the inverter technology is patentable, yet nobody else seems to be building these hot little sellers. Does anyone else know of a good quality "true" competitor in this market? The models I'm speaking of are like the EU2000i.|||"I wouldn't think the inverter technology is patentable" Why not?

I would think it is both patentable and patented.

My guess would be that many generator manufactures are competing on price, and may not think the cost of the technology is worth it, since people who want quality are going to go with a well know brand, and those who want cheap will go with cheap, the middle ground may not be a big market.

But actually, a quick internet search shows a lot of inverter generators out there.

How much would it cost to get an original key from a Honda dealership?

What is the difference between a Honda CBR600RR 4 or 5 sport?

How can I get my 2006 Honda Civic to bypass the sensors so it can take advantage of the HHO cell I just added?

I had a company that makes and install the kits to produce HHO gas install a system on my 2006 Honda Civic. The system is making plenty of hydrogen. I am not getting any gas mileage increase and I really think it is because the computer or sensors are not allowing it to be used properly. So, I was wondering if anyone may have any knowledge on how to bypass the necessary sensors to allow my car to get its improved gas mileage.|||Contrary to other jerks here, these systems WILL be on a few production cars starting this year!

Bypassing the sensors will vary from car to car. It boils down to whether you have a mass air flow sensor or a map sensor. Each is very different and modifying the signal to the computer on the highway is the key. Mass air flow is harder and less information is available for modifying it. You can buy map sensor devices all over the place.

Be forewarned! Running your car lean can burn a piston or exhaust valve if done incorrectly!!! It can cost thousands of dollars to fix. If you run your car lean you need to know how lean it's running using a guage that you can buy from the parts store that is VERY easy to hook up. You also need to monitor the engine temperature very closely to make sure it's not running hotter than before after adding the HHO back to the intake with your kit. A sure sign something is wrong will be the engine running hotter than normal or the mixture showing more lean than normal with the hho and the device modifying the map sensor off.

Many people are dying to have this technology but it's not stable in my opinion for all cars at this point. There are people making computers that will control this on most cars to make it easier but knowledge is very important if you want to run it now. Food for thought.

Ignore all the morons calling it a scam. I have absolutely no connection with smackbooster and personally think it's a stupid name but he's even got one that's clear with chrome top and bottom on his motorcycle. It's quite impressive.

It's been proven time and time again by so many tests.

The computer and sensors automatically adjust as you change, so if it really worked, you would see the MPG difference already. But you aren't going to see a MPG difference from something that has already been proven to not work, it's been all over the news and everything.

How do I know if my Honda Civic condenser is bad?

I have a Honda Civic EX 1995. I live in Austin, TX and my car a/c works fine in the morning when its not that hot, but takes very long to cool in the afternoon/evening. In addition, the engine makes knocking sounds while idling with the A/C on. The mechanic told me that this was due to a condenser problem--and gave me a $400 quote! My question is if the condenser is bad, would the A/C cool at all?|||Not for long.

The ONLY purpose for the condenser is to exchange heat, and therefore transport refrigerant. No moving parts. If it fails, it won't retain its refrigerant.

If the refrigerant is low, the compressor could conceivably rattle or knock, but in that event the low pressure switch should turn off the compressor.

Have you had a front-end collision? Have you struck a parking curb too hard?

It is difficult to tell if the condenser is damaged without a good inspection.

Look at it VERY CLOSELY and see if it has any "wet" spots or areas where it appears oily. This is a clear indication of a leaky condenser.

Also, anyone had bought a honda civic before? How much did you pay for it?

Thank you!|||It's hard to say what the market price of a Civic is, usually, you go by MSRP. I bought an '09 Civic EX for $22 out the door (taxes are high where I live).|||Hard to say what the price should be without knowing where you are, what options the car has, its condition and mileage. However...

I am a firm believer in the Edmund's "True Market Value" price guide. When we bought my wife's car, I walked in with printouts in hand showing what I -should- pay for the car. I made them a 'take or leave it' offer based on that and we were driving off the lot 1/2 hour later. The idea is to get the best price and still have the dealership make something on the deal. The salesman wasn't particularly happy (he refused to shake my hand when we left) but it isn't my job to make him happy, right? :-D

How much should I sell my Honda dirt bike for?

I have a 2006 Honda CRF100F that was purchased for $2300. It was only ridden less than 5 hours total. Nothing was ever wrong with the bike and it has no scratches or anything, but it wont start since it's been sitting from some time. I think the gas and oil just needs to be changed. What would be a fair price to sell it for?|||Definitely get it running first!! You will not get a fair price out of anyone if it won't start. You can get a left over 2007 now for about $1849 and I have seen used 05 models for $1300. I would say if you can get $1600 that would be pretty good. I realize it hasn't been used much, but that really doesn't matter. I would ask $1800 and see what happens. I know you don't want to take it to a shop and spend money, but if you just bought a new $4 plug, drained out the old gas and put in new it should fire right up.|||obviously people are always gonna try to negotiate the price so start out at about 2050 and then when a buyer comes drop the price if asked to, but only a little bit -1850 as low as u should go. How much would it cost too replace the front bumper of a Honda Accord?

One day while backing up from the parking lot, I hit a Honda Accord but there's a slight dent and some scratches, and i was wondering how much it would cost? They said it was going to be $800! But i don't know if thats too much to just replace the front bumper?|||Yeah these people are looking at dealer pricing and the labor to install it. You need them to get another quote. The bumper itself shouldn't cost $800 unless it's brand spankin new model. And if you were backing out of a parking spot I'm pretty sure the law will say that it was their fault for not yielding. I'd get a lawyer or take it to small claims court.|||Depends on the year accord. 90-94 i'd say about $80 for the bumper itself, without painting it. 95-02 would be about $150 for the part itself, minus paint. 03 and anything newer would cost like $200, minus paint.

Colors vary, but just for a bumper, unless you're lucky at a junkyard, it's about $500 at a dealer.

How much would it cost to replace a clutch in a Honda Accord?

My niece just bought a Honda Accord 1996 and it needs a new clutch, My friend who works on cars said he would do it for $600 including parts. She has a friend who said he will do it for $150 parts included. I don't trust her friend. So my question is....is $600 too much to pay an experienced mechanic replace the clutch?|||hi, i just had to do a clutch in my car. I have a few questions, are u just buying the clutch disc or the clutch kit. the kit comes with everything clutch disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing, alignment tool. if its the clutch disc then it will be cheap like $50, $60 bucks, the kit is a little more expensive like $150-$200 bucks maybe $125 if ur lucky. now thats on a stock clutch kit. but proformace clutch kit which is what i bought is like $250-$500 i paid $350. But, now lets get to the point $150 sounds like hes buying the stock clutch kit and putting it in with no extra cost meaning free labor. Now the other guy for $600 sounds like hes buying the stock clutch kit and $300 for labor. Now replacing the clutch is not very hard but it take alot time to do. Because you have to take the transmission out and pull the clutch out and replace it with ur new one. But if ur low on cash and the guy can do it for $150 that will be ur best bet, but on the other hand he might not install it correctly and u might run into problem later down the road so ask if he had on clutches before. hopefully this help sorry about the long story. good luck with your car.

How long will a 95 Honda Accord with 247,000 miles on it last?

It's pretty high mileage, but I know Hondas are known for lasting a long time. It doesn't have any major problems. I'm just looking for something that will last four or five years before I can get a better vehicle. I'm also planning on driving it very very far. So would a 95 Honda Accord EX Sedan with 247000 miles on it be worth it to me?|||Four or five years sounds about right. If it made it 247K miles it has probably been taken care of, but you definitely need to know when the timing belt was last replaced. You can't take the seller's word for it - if he doesn't have a receipt you will have to get the belt (and water pump, to ward off evil spirits) replaced. Otherwise you will never know when to do that critical thing.

Not to worry you, but if the igniter has not been replaced it is near the end of its life expectancy. A new one is about $200 plus an hour or so labor (use only genuine Honda) and keep the other as an emergency spare. Replacing it now will save you a tow. I would bet you wouldn't make it 5 years with the original.

Ditto with the main relay (see source). What are some legal issues Honda has faced in their history?

I need some help finding legal issues Honda has dealt with in their long history. Anything major or any issues that have lead to big lawsuits? If anyone has links with information that would be greatly appreciated.|||Most of the "legal" issues that come up are product liability lawsuits, franchise law that affect dealers or violation of emissions laws.

the two big ones for Honda in the U.S. were with non-compliance of the 1996-1997 models with the emissions certification laws. Honda 'agreed' to extending the warranty for emissions defects on all 1996-1997 models for 15 years as a result of their non-compliance.

you can google "Honda class Action Lawsuits" and you'll find there are some current ones for brake wear, hybrid batteries and transmissions. The usual outcome of those suits is that Honda agrees to extend warranties and to reimburse customers who have had problems with whatever part it was that is allegedly defective.

the second major activity was a discrimination suit against dealers and taking bribes to give dealers more cars. this happened in the mid-1990s and led to a host of ethical reforms at American Honda.

How does Honda rank when compared to other cars?

I bought a used Honda thinking that it would have lasted until I sold it. It seemed like a good idea until I learned that Hondas are notorious for having oil leaks. You have to be kidding me!! That gives me the believe that Honda is NO better than Ford was in the 1980s. Are these mechanics right, do Hondas sedans become a leaky piece of junk starting between 50k to 80k miles on the odometer?|||Ranks very high but, is terribly over-priced.|||I don't know who you have been talking to but I personally do not agree. Honda sets a very high standard and of all the ones that I have had into my shop, it is very typical for them to be over 100,000 miles and very few problems that need attention. The oil leak issue is to be expected eventually in any vehicle but Honda's seem to be the easier to fix and less frequently. They do tend to go through brakes more so than other vehicle, but the cost of their parts are very reasonable. Valves cover spark plug tube seals do leak eventually but are a simple repair.|||I have a 90 civic with 320,000 miles on it and it doesn't leak a drop of oil. I have been a mechanic most of my life as well, and anytime someone asks me what car to get, I tell them a Honda, Toyota, or Subaru, in that order. Treat your Honda right and they will REGULARLY go to 250,000 miles.|||i had a civic with 250,000 miles on the original engine and it ran so very well and got 30 mpg at least. i think that honda ranks very high in the market it took a city bus to take mine off of the road and it still drove me for 3 years after that.|||Oil leaks are easy to fix on hondas ...and every car leaks oil just the amount they leak is very miniscule ...the thing is with honda once they hit like 150k miles they're worthless now A ford mustang from the 80's still holds good value|||THE CAR RANKS WELL IF YOUR NOT PLANNING ON GETTING INTO A CAR ACCIDENT

How to keep a 92 Honda Accord from starting so it can't get stolen?

How many miles can a honda motorcycle go for from the early 1980's?

I am looking at a honda nighthawk 500 from 1984 with about 45000 miles. How much is a good price for such a bike?|||Maybe $250.00 to $500.00. Depends on maintenance record. At that mileage timing chain is getting a lot worn, drive sprockets and drive chain due to be replaced- but they may have already been replaced. Carbs may need cleaning and rebuild- but again they may have been refurbished under normal 30,000 mile maintenance. Rings good for a few more miles, valves also, maybe another 10,000 miles before top end valve and ring job- or use a little heavier oil. Check clutch- plates may be worn, or been replaced, or maybe Ok if most of cycle miles were on highway. Previous use and maintenance makes a difference|||Depending on the condition, if GOOD, somewhere in the $600 to $1000 range. The only listing I came across was for the '84 650 for $1310. The Nighthawk was first produced in '82 and ran it's course in the 80's up till '86. It came back in 1970 with the 750c.c.also produced the 750s which was not sold in the U.S. It came in 250,450,550,650,and 700. The 400c.c. was produced in the GL400 Touring and the 400 Custom.

How to sell a 2010 Honda that is not perfect?

I've got a hybrid Honda for which I'm paying the bank more than I can afford on the car loan. The car has been involved in one accident but was totally repaired, but it also has a cigarette burn on the driver's seat. Should I try to sell it as a private party, or take it to someplace like CarMax to sell it? I've got to find a car under $3000.00 and get rid of the car payment. THANKS!|||Just a quick mention... keep in mind that unless you put down a huge chunk when you bought it, you'll be upside-down on the car to the tune of thousands of dollars. You'll need that money in the bank to cover whatever the difference is between what you sell it for and what you owe.

CarMax isn't some magic place that gives folks thousands of dollars over book value on cars. They do about the same as other dealers. Private party will always be your best bet, but you MUST be realistic on the value. If you owe $20K on a now-used 2010 car, and folks can buy a new one for $20K, why would they buy yours when it's been in an accident and has damage to the interior?

Good luck, but realistically this might be harder than you think.

**EDIT -- To comment on the first poster... having someone "take over the payments" does NOT relieve the seller of liability on the car. The car must stay registered and insured in the seller's name until it's paid in full and a transfer of ownership takes place. Plus, keep in mind that doing this goes against the agreement signed between the buyer and the lender. Seriously, search this forum for a few pages, look for those questions that ask "made agreement to have so-and-so take over payments, they quit paying, we can't find car, help!!!" They're everywhere. Folks look at this as a magic way of getting out of a car payment, when it is anything but.|||Well just sell it like any other car, any way you can. you can sell it by having somebody LEGALLY take over the payments and pay you about 1/3 to 1/2 of what you have payed off and just cut your losses. put it on Ebay, craigslist, in the newspapers, or go to wherever you financed your car and try to refinance it so that you have lower payments each month. a good car for under $3000 should be easy to come across.|||private party will bring you more money

Who is a contact with HONDA who can make a decision regarding repairing a manfactrer's defect?

The license plate holder, where the bolt goes in, is stripped and ripped the body. Needs minor body work and is Honda's fault. The dealer said it wold have to be approved by a regional manager. Torrance California area.|||Here is the funny thing about the warranty repairs by Honda, an I work for a Honda dealer. How can a stripped and ripped body is Honda's fault? New car are inspected at the factory, then they get inspected by the ports or the truckers, remember any little scratch is reported or u will pay for it, Kind of like when u rent a car. Then the car gets inspected when is getting off the truck and one last time when we do the PDI (pre delivery inspection) That's a lot of inspections. I don't think that was there when your car left the factory, I think it was done when the dealer install that frame around the license plate, u know the one with there name on it. I saw that here were I work with 2 accords, ( a big impact tool to install a little bolt) not good. Maybe this is not the case but if they know that Honda is not going to pay for it they will make u jump lot's of hoops and if this is the case call Honda . Honda does not play with customer satisfaction and they will put these people in so much trouble that they will not do it again.|||That isn't completely true..but close. Getting approval for what you are describing is a fairly simple process and you shouldn't have to wait any longer than 72 hours to get an answer from your Honda dealer. There are service representatives (zone or regional reps) that Honda assigns to it's dealer network. They travel from dealer to dealer and work closely with both the service and parts managers. These reps are available to the service managers by phone or email and generally will give their approval for routine repairs like the one you've described here. If for any reason you feel as though you're getting the runaround, feel free to call Honda's customer hotline and share your experience with them. Honda of America is very tuned into CSI (customer satisfaction index) and will most likely light a fire under your dealer's service department to get this taken care of for you. Also things might speed up for you simply by asking for the hotline number. Good luck!|||Just take it to any honda Delearship and if it is under warranty they will do it anywere....

How to replace defroster on Honda Accord rear window?

I have a 1998 Honda Accord with a rear window defroster that still works but the window is hard to see through. Over the years the defroster "sheet" has become opaque is there way to remove this and install another one? Or would it be cheaper just to replace the back glass?|||The traces are on the inside of the glass. You get them off just like you would get a big label off. With a scraper. Then you can install an new defroster using the old wires. It's just like putting a big decal on the inside of the window.|||I own a 1998 honda accord and as far as i am aware there is no (sheet) on the rear screen but there may be a window tint that has been applied after market that is becoming opaque if you can check that this is the case then try and remove it very carefully trying not to damage the heater element wires as these are not reparable and cannot be replaced the only other way is to replace the rear screen (expensive)

What modern sized motorcycle tire can I install on my 1966 Honda?

I have a 1966 Honda Dream and according to the manual it takes 3.25 X 16 tires. These are an old size style and they are not relevant to modern tire equivalents. What would be the closest tire size equivalent that I can mount on my wheels? Do you have any brand and model recommendations? I have gotten vintage size/style tires from Coker but am not satisfied with the quality.|||3.25X16 is the same (or as close as is now available) as a MH90 16 or a MJ90 16 (3.25 falls between) also the same as a 80/90 or 90/90 (again 3.25 falls between)

Also Coker Tyre sells tyres in inch sizes but expensive and still built with 60s technology.|||you can either get it measured at a good motorcycle dealer or update your rims with aftermarket (You have spokes and can not fix a flat on the road, but a mag is tubeless and can be) just some ideas.|||the 16 is the rim size, so that won't have changed. 3.25 is approx 83mm in modern width.

Would the honda accord or honda civic be a better used car buy?

I've heard honda accords and civics are two great reliable used cars to buy. You can find fairly new models for cheap. I've heard the accord is better then the civic in todays models but what about a 2002 or somewhere around there. Also I only have about 5000 to spend, is an accord still in that price range.|||Alright a Accord is a few thousands more than a civic but with 5,000 the best thing to do is to look for a Honda Civic Ex not lx EX go on autotrader or go on msn and click on autos then select the year you like and can afford which you may buy a 2000-2002 Civic with 5000 cash and compare it to the accord or other cars that competes with it also if you compare it on msn sometimes they give you the wrong model trim remember ex is better because you have a faster car and a sunroof and more.

Stick shift is harder to find in a used car but if you get a 2000-2002 Accord with stick shift you won't have to worry about the reported transmission problems [with automatics] on some around that time. If I was you I would consider a car loan and getting an 04 or newer. The newer Accords no longer have a timing belt and that will save you money on maintenance costs replacing the belt. I borrowed money from myself by taking out a loan against my 401k at work. The interest I pay on the loan goes back into my 401k and will be better than the returns currently with other investments. You have to weigh the pros and cons though even if you have that option.|||Be careful on those Accords that made from early 2000s, they're known for having transmission problems.

What is the best way to lift a Honda Accord?

I have a 2001 honda accord sedan v6. With winter here I am finding it hard to drive my Honda Accord in the snow and rough weather, and i plan on installing some snow tires on it. I am looking for about a 3 inch lift. What lift should i get in regards to pricing and performance. And from what manufacturer can i purchase this lift?|||Companies don't make lift kits for cars. 1) Get bigger tires but this will make your car faster than what is displayed on the speedometer. Good way to get speeding tickets.

My car Honda Accord has about 120K miles and have always been going to a dealer for service. The intermidiate service is due and I wonder should I go to dealer or try somo other auto body shops?

Other shops work with all ranges of cars, american, german, and everything else.

I'm not sure what you mean intermediate service, but if it includes bigger jobs such as timing belt jobs and other jobs then definitely Honda dealer. They know your car inside and out, literally.

But for small jobs such as oil, fuel filter and simple jobs smaller shops will do the trick; but always keep in mind they may not be 100% knoweledable with your car.|||And please just call it a repair shop. A body shop repairs dents, paints cars, and does things to the body of the car. It does not work on the engine or other internal parts.|||Go to the Honda dealer! How difficuilt is it to install a muffler on a 1994 honda civic?

I have a 1994 honda civic coupe. I am looking into buying a muffler off of ebay, but was wandering if I will need to purchase any more parts, and how difficuilt is the installation?|||You could take it to a muffler shop or a weld shop and they could weld one on for you.

Or you could also buy a replacement muffler and you'd have to unbolt the pipes underneath your car and bolt the new one in. There are these little rubber things that hold the hold thing suspended on the bottom. The only worry is that sometimes the bolts on the exhaust pipes get stuck really bad because of the intense heat they can be subjected to. I'd say get under your car and check the bolts, they should be near the rear wheels, to see if they will come loose. Chances are they should. If they will then I'd buy a new muffler and put it on yourself if you can find one. Both ways will cost you about the same but if you do it yourself at least you'll know the quality job you had done. At a shop you will never know how good of a job they did.

Overall, swapping the muffler out is really simple so if you can find the muffler for your car, which is the hardest part, I'd say just do it yourself. Good luck!|||most cars the mufflers are welded on so you would have to be able to cut it off which is not that hard then you go to any parts store and buy muffler clamps to fit muffler you might need to know what size pipe you have before buying so you know its not to small or to big for your car and can get pipe spacers and clamps at any parts place as well as mufflers just about as cheap if not same price|||your ganna need to take it to a welder...local muffler shop etc...they'll do everything for you...and prolly just charge you about $50-70 pretty much.

you dont need to spend any more money and any parts. just as long as you have the muffler you want to replace with the old one.

Among the Yamaha Gladiator and Honda Shine, which one would be better in terms of comfort and mileage?

I'm planning to buy a 125cc bike in the coming 2-4 months n have shortlisted the Honda Shine and Yamaha Gladiator. What I'm trying to assess is the mileage, ride comfort n after sales services which can help me in choosing between the 2 bikes.|||The Shine has better fuel economy no doubt, but overall, the Gladiator wins. It is far more comfortable than the Shine. Although it has less fuel economy (50kmpl in city, as compared to 55 for the shine), it doesnt make much of a difference (a few hundred rupees per month).

Gladiator looks better too and price wise is it actually a little cheaper than the Shine to buy.

What is the Largest engine that can fit into a 2001 honda civic?

My friend is planning an engine swap of his 2001 honda civic and wants to know the largest size engine that can fit. He would also like to know where he can look up racing engines used on tuners.|||I used to belong to a car forum called 7thgencivic.com, which has since combined with other generations into www.civicforums.com.

Basically you can do anything you want if you've got enough money, but it may not be cost effective. The 2001 civic does not respond well to bolt ons such as intake, header, exhaust as previous generations. If you want a significant speed increase you will need to add a turbo or swap the engine.

Now to answer your question: A very popular engine swap for those that do it is the K20 (RSX Engine). It requires more engine bay space, so things may need to be shifted around, but it will fit. Parts are very similar in these cars, so it doesn't require a complete overhaul, but would take money and time to do.

I wouldn't put too much money into the car though. A rough estimate to do a swap like this would like like $2000-$3000. The car is probably only worth about 4000 at this point. How much does it cost to replace a starter on a Honda Accord '97?

Today I was driving my Honda Accord it's a '97 with 124k miles and I parked it and when I came out to go to work it wouldn't start. At first I thought it was the battery, but the radio and lights still worked inside. I tried to give it a jump, but it wouldn't even spark. Someone told me it could be the starter. How to check for a blown head gasket in a 1994 Honda Civic?

My 1994 Honda Civic is overheating and I need to check for a blown head gasket. How do i do this? There is no water in the oil. We have replaced the thermostat and the timing belt recently.|||Fill the cooling system with clean water and start the engine with the cap off.Leave it ticking over and observe the filler neck.If you see large air bubbles in the water then it a tell tail sign that compression is entering the cooling system? If the gasket is blown, then eventually the engine will start to throw the water out of the filler neck big time.Hope this helps|||If your loosing a large amount of water in your radiator without a leak under your engine, this could be one good sign of a blown head gasket. What internal problems is the Honda corporation having, business wise?

The Honda corporation is having problems within the business, what are they?|||If your referring to the decrease in automobile sales its not the corporation; its the market. The Japanese domestic market has been in the tank for the last 3 years; the American market dropped from almost 17 million new cars in 2006 to a forecast of less than 16 million in 2008. Honda's year-over-year sales are down but they are maintaining market share in the U.S.

Most of the U.S. market problems are due to the "credit crunch"; simply said, most vehicles are financed and most prospective customers can't get financed because of their personal financial positions. The sub-prime mortgage market fiasco also affects the same class of sub-prime car buyers. To make matters worse, most people who are in trouble with their home loans bought a car financed into the loan so as home foreclosures rise so will defaults on car loans and repossessions.

Honda is in a much better financial position than most companies and they will weather the storm. Their strength is that most of their cars are produced in North America so they won't get killed by the weak dollar as the Europeans will.

hope that answers your question|||None whatsoever. In fact they are developing one of the most eagerly awaited supercars in the world ever, the new V10 NSX.

What is better about the Honda Civic than a Toyota Corolla?

Both 2010. My parents want to get the Corolla for its safety features, but I love the way a Honda Civic looks. What is good about a Civic?|||Corolla is a safer car? Lmao. What is so safe about the 100% re-call rate Toyota had this year? What is so safe about Toyota's 40% overall re-call rate. Many people died in a Toyota this year, simply because Toyota messed up with it's accelerator. They also lied to the U.S. government, saying their cars had no problem until coming clean with the truth. Also Honda Civic is rated #2 in it's class with 9.8 safety while Corolla is #18 and has a safety rating of 9.3. http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/car鈥?/a> . Your parents are wrong. They are falling for Toyota's lies, because they obviously don't know that much about cars. My dad got into a accident with a 07 Civic, the car was totally destroyed and my dad came out of the car totally safe. Not even a little scratch. I prefer going American cars though, the more stylish Ford Fiesta is #1 in it's class and beats both cars in safety with 10.0 rating(see link). I would suggest the Fiesta, for every American car bought 4 American jobs are saved. Ford is really on the rise, and they improved their quality a lot. A well taken Ford can last as much as a Honda or Toyota. However if you must go with Japanese cars and feed the Japanese, I would suggest the Civic.|||The Honda is a much safer car, the Corolla is a death trap, it has been recalled for both the famous "Toyota pedal of death" and for the engine's stalling randomly. The Honda is better looking, more reliable, and gets better MPG. It also holds it's value better than the Toyota.|||civic more reliable and more mpg|||Honda Civic is better

As for a little bump I would suggest using a 500-1000 watt amplifier (depending on how much bump you are looking for) and running a 10 inch sub-woofer in an enclosed case (make sure that your amplifier is bridgeable if your only using one sub). Otherwise a two channel amp running 1000 watts will power two 15's and give you more than enough kick.

What year models of Honda did they upgrade the transmissions?

I was told and also had transmission problems on both V6 model Honda vehicles. 2000 Odyssey %26amp; 2000 Accord. I'm looking to buy another Odyssey.|||the 4 cylinder transmissions fail regularly too. newer(2005+) odysseys are far more reliable. 99-04's are all pretty much the same in terms of failure rates.|||2006 and up or Manual transmissions are OK

1998-2005 was Honda's dark horse era which they cut costs on A/T assembly which in time promptly back fired and stained the company's reputation.

All Hondas Acuras and Isuzus if it's that year model and it's a V6 make sure it's manual transmission, or if it automatic, get 2006 and up.|||I would suspect the newest generation is worked out. often the factory's are caught in the early production runs with issues such as this and many times the dealerships will get tech bulitins to advise them what can or should be done to remedy the condition. i would really doubt that the base v6 has too much torque for the trans but rather the internal parts are defective.

How well does the Honda Catalytic Converter work?

How to stop 90s Honda Accord leaking in trunk and rear passenger side floor?

I have a 1990 Honda Accord (similar to 89-93 Accords) and it is very wet in the trunk and the rear passenger-side floor?

When is it leaking from? The door/window seals seam fine. Has anyone else had this problem?|||Feel around the trunk and see which section is wettest. My guess is it will probably be right around one of the tail lights. If yes, you can pull the whole light assembly off and see if the gasket is damaged. You will probably need to replace it. If enough water is getting in through the trunk it can easily work it's way to the passenger compartment.

How do you change a fuel filter on a 1997 Honda Accord?

Does anyone know of a website to show me how, or can someone walk me through? Thanks!|||i blieve you filter is located either under the air filter box or on the firewall near the passenger middle of the engine comartment.|||Get ready to cuss a lot. The actual replacement isn't bad, metal line screws into both sides, but the placement on the 97 accord will make you want to choke an engineer. it is halfway down the firewall in line with the brake master cylinder. You will probably need 2 crow's feet to get the bastard out. Coming up from the bottom is slightly easier, but you are still going to need every swear word in your vocabulary.|||Spend about $18 on a Haynes Manual from Auto Zone. Does honda have fully synthetic oils? How much for an oil change?

I drive a lot (3000 miles/month) and i want to save time changing the oil for my civic lx. i always take it to honda for a change of oil and filter, but would you think Honda has a fully synthetic one like Mobil 1? You should go to an independent place, not the dealer. They will charge you like $40 for an oil change, an independent place charges like $25. Don't believe all the BS they offer with the oil change. It's a bunch of "inspects"...like inspect tires, inspect fluids. Basically just "looking" at your tires and fluids. Ohh big wow. Definitely not worth $20 extra dollars.|||Honda does have full synthetic oil. You will pay an additional

$20.00 more on top of the regular oil and filter change price.

How much is 1980 Honda Moped Express worth running and ready to ride?

I have 1980 Honda Express Moped and trying to find a value on it. It runs good I have had it for 3 years and it runs good. I have had many offers onit but don't know what to sell it for.|||Old mopeds in proven running shape go for about $100.00 to $300.00 around here in Madison, Wisconsin-- there is a large college campus with tight parking for cars but allows mopeds to park in most of the bicycle areas so that has somewhat helped maintain market price. Honda dealers network also helps keep price up a bit. How to go with minor body work for a new Honda?

Shall I buy a tractor or a Honda Rancher Quad?

We just bought some landand will need a vehicle to help with common chores - as well as develop the land. I was planning on getting the Honda Rancher with attachments, but maybe a tractor is a better purchase... Of course the Honda would be a blast when the work gloves come off. Any input is greatly appreciated!|||I would say go with the tractor. Their built to handle the needs better. Sure you can get different attachments for the ATV but it's not going to do the job as effectively as a tractor. ATV's don't have PTO's, hydraulics and the gear ratio's of a tractor.

You don't mention what your chores are going to be. But if your looking at plowing, tilling, loading, etc the tractor is the way to go. If your planning on just hauling a trailer around or blasting around your property the Rancher would work good for you.

How to give my Honda lease to someone else?

Did some searching can't find any good results, Will probably end up calling Honda but I would like some information before I go on the phone to know what will possibly happen.

Can I easily give my lease to someone else, how does it work?|||Yes, you can transfer the lease... but it depends entirely on whether Honda's lease allows it. Other companies who allow transfers will require that the original lessee remain responsible for the obligations of the lease if the new lessee defaults. Therefore, it is advised that anyone considering a lease transfer contact their lease company or bank prior to taking any further action. http://www.leaseguide.com/sn/lease-trans鈥?/a>

How do I fix the power windows on my 87 Honda civic?

I just bought an 87 honda civic, which is great, but the power windows are SO slow to come up, and sometimes don't come up at all. They usually always move down, but won't come up (except for really slowly).

I have spent alot of money on this car already, and I need the cheapest possible solution, so some advice would be appreciated. The rubber in between the windows seems to cling a bit. Is it possible thats causing the delay on the wind up?

I know its an old car, so maybe thats where the problem is, but is there an extremely economic solution to this problem?

Thank you.|||Well you could try using a little armor all or silicone spray on the places where it contacts the window. But my money is the silenoid/relay is bad, you have to take the door panel off to replace it, they are usually about $5-$10 each. If that didn't fix it check the switch, if you have redundant switches see if any make them go faster, sometimes you have a voltage drop when the switches get old, they too are pretty cheap to replace.

Other than that its the window motor getting weak and they will cost $65-$120 per motor and require removal of the door panel, then you have to grind the heads off the rivets that hold the motor in. Then put in the new motor.

A repair manual can be picked up at the local parts store for 10 bucks and will guide you thru the process to fix it.

How to bleed a Honda Element cooling system?

Replaced the thermostat, coolant and flushed the system. Honda dealer said there may be an air pocket(no heat) how do I bleed the air pocket out?|||There are two ways to bleed the cooling system Essentially, to bleed the cooling system you need to get the top of the radiator above the level of the top of the heater core that is located under the right side of the instrument panel.

technicians who work on cooling systems have a special adapter that is basically a combined radiator cap and a funnel that is put on the radiator. then the funnel is filled with coolant so that the level of the coolant is above the top of the heater core. Then the engine is run until the thermostat opens and the air bleeds out.

If you don't have the set-up to bleed the system this way then the only other alternative is to raise the front of the vehicle up so that the top of the radiator is above the heater core. (You can get an idea of how high that is by following the heater hoses to the engine wall on the passenger side of the vehicle; the top of the heater core will be a bit above the upper heater hose). I've seen the drive up ramps work well enough to raise the radiator up. I've also seen people drive the front wheels up a curb (be careful if you try that). Or, if at all possible, find a really steep hill (that works best).

when you get the vehicle properly positioned then you can allow the engine to cool so that you can remove the radiator cap. Leaving the car parked for an hour would be the right thing to do. then fill the radiator with coolant and run the engine until the level drops, then refill.

that will get the air out of the system

hope that helps|||If the dealer did this work then he is responsible for having it in correct condition. If the heater worked before it should work now. The water pump circulates coolant to the heater. Maybe the valve that controls the flow is not opening. An air pocket would be unusual as the system is under pressure. The flush and fill is a $$$ maker for the dealer and does nothing for the cooling system. It can in fact cause your radiator to plug up. Tell the dealer to fix it. From now on stay away from dealers.

How much time does it take for the Porsche to catch the Honda?

Two cars, a Porsche and a Honda, are traveling in the same direction, although the Porsche is 184 m behind the Honda. The speed of the Porsche is 23.9 m/s and the speed of the Honda is 17.9 m/s. How much time does it take for the Porsche to catch the Honda? [Hint: What must be true about the displacements of the two cars when they meet?]|||Hey!

Here's the entire answer to your question.

Let's first identify the values we're given:

d = distance Porsche is behind Honda = 184 m

V = speed of Porsche = 23.9 m/s

v = speed of Honda = 17.9 m/s

The "hint" in the problem asks what must be true about the displacements of the cars when they meet? Well, the displacements must be EQUAL if they meet:

displacement of Honda = displacement of Porsche

or

d(Honda) = d(Porsche)

Now let's figure out what these displacements are. Assume that the INITIAL position of the Porsche is d = 0. Then:

d(Honda) = d + v*t

d(Porsche) = V*t

Now we equate these two values:

d + v*t = V*t

Here t = time, which is what we're solving for. Rearranging terms to solve for t:

t = d / (V-v)

= 184 m / (23.9 m/s - 17.9 m/s)

= 30.66 seconds

So the Porsche will catch up to the Honda in 30.66 seconds. That's your answer!

anaGah.|||The basic formula would be vp * t = vh * t + x

How far can a Honda Civic and a Prius go on Electric mode?

How many miles can a Honda Civic and a Prius go when the battery is fully charged. (civic hybrid and prius hybrid car)|||Hi,

stay with me and I'll give you the full answer.

Actually, both vehicles are "full hybrids" meaning they can run under electric-only mode for short distances at low speeds.

The Civic was just upgraded to a full hybrid in 2006, but the Prius has always been a full hybrid.

The Prius system will take you further, up to 25 miles in stop and go traffic, with the regenerative braking system. And the Prius will go faster, up to 25 mph, with careful acceleration.

The Civic system is not able to do either of those marks. It uses Honda's hybrid system called the "Integrated Motor Assist" and it's mostly designed to boost the gas engine, not run on electric mode for any length of time.

Essentially, you have two different vehicles. The Prius is a mid-sized sedan that is more equal to a Camry or Accord for features, technology, price, and comfort. The Civic is a compact and is on the same level as a Corolla for features, tech (excluding the IMA), price and comfort.

Not to say either is better than the other for what they do. They are just different, just as the Civic is to the Accord or the Corolla is to the Prius.

One last note, Prius sold in Europe and Asia come with an "EV" mode button. Pressing that button disables the gas engine for city driving. That is where the 25 mph/25 miles distance come into play.

We don't have that ability here in the US because our driving conditions are too different from theirs to justify having it here. Basically, we drive longer distances in our urban environments and Americans drive faster over those long distances and would overcome the EV mode too easily. (We also don't get the auto parking option that the Prius' over there have (similar system on Lexus GS here in the US) because thier parking is so much tighter there on average.)

The Civic isn't available with an EV mode at all, here or there.

BTW, to answer the previous post...

Computer system updates / changes / etc. for the Prius are covered by Toyota during the 8 year or 100,000 mile warranty period. And a safe bet would be that Toyota would update your Prius any time an update would be needed after that.

Every manufacturer has computer upgrades, even Volkswagen.

And as far as less parts go, Prius have no throttle cables (electronic acceleration), no steering pumps or steering belts (electronic steering), no starters, no alternators, no distributors, each cylinder is individually controlled with it's own fuel injector, a sealed CVT so no regular transmission, and with the regenerative barking system, you should never have to replace the brake pads because the generator does almost all of your braking.

Anyway, if you'd like any more details, read my other posts or contact me.|||the Honda does not drive on Electric mode, instead an electric motor helps with acceleration, which reduces gas consumption...

the prius will drive on electric mode for a short time, and or only at low speeds. The prius will start the engine, and shut it off when it feels that it does not need the engine running.

The Prius system is way cooler,.

But why waste the extra money, when any of the TDi Diesel get 50mpg!! And are better built. No spark ignition system, no computer problems...(think hybrids have computer errors???,, they cost a bunch to fix)

and you can make your own biodiesl when gas is not available...

http://journeytoforever.org/biodiesel_ma鈥?/a>|||professorprius gave a very full, accurate answer. I just wanted to add that you can purchase an "EV" (which stands for electric vehicle) button to install on your Prius yourself.

It is sold for $45 + shipping by a 3rd-party company, Costal Electronic Technologies, who claims you can install it yourself with a needle-nosed pliers and a screwdriver in 25 minutes.

I'm still looking into whether or not this voids your warranty (it sounds like it shouldn't, but you can never be too careful) and some other details about the product.

How much does a timing belt replacement cost on a honda civic?

I have a 1998 Honda Civic lx. I have 185,000 miles on it and have been told multiple times that i should have the timing belt replaced. Does anyone know how much that generally costs? There is a place here that says that the price starts at $199. Let me know your thoughts!!! Thanks!|||The labour time is 3.6 hours for that job. This quote is for air conditioning, cruise control power steering which will all interfere with getting to the timing belt. Now because the water pump is driven by the timing belt, it makes sense to replace it at the same time. The belt will be around $60 and the pump is almost $90 from the dealer. The labour is the shops door rate times the 3.6... I just did one yesterday.

- Automotive apprentice|||This is really interesting...my husband got quote at more than 3 times what everyone is saying( around 900+) . I'm glad to know that it can be done ourselves or that we really need to shop around.

|||Having 185,000 miles doesn't necessarily mean you need to have a timing belt replacement. If the people who keep telling you multiple times without knowing your car's history, then they either have a personal agenda or just repeating what others have said to them.

If you've had your timing belt replaced within the last 90,000 you should still be fine. If you haven't had a timing belt replacement for over 100,000 miles, consider having it replaced.

A new timing belt could cost you about $50 from your local auto parts store. A new tensioner could cost you around $20. So that would be about $130 for just the labor if the total cost starts at $199.

Although I did the labor to replace my own timing belt for free, I would think $130 is still high...more like $50 - $100 would be reasonable.

If you would like to read how a timing belt is replaced, you can learn here:

Good luck!|||hondas are kinda weird, if the timing belt breaks due to old age, your valves will hit your pistons, and then you will need a new engine. So get this done ASAP! i would also suggest replacing the water pump, you must take off the timing belt in order to replace the water pump. it may not be bad right now, but say you pay the 500$ to do the timing belt tomorrow, then by friday the water pump goes out, guess what, youll have to pay money to have that timing belt taken back off.....so its a waste of money not to do the water pump at the same time as the timing belt.....with that said, most shops charge around 600$ for the timing belt and water pump.

Good luck|||3-500.00 Must use factory timing belt, water pump and tensioner, make sure they replace the seals on the cam and crank shaft while they are in there and you should be fine for another 100k miles. If you do not think the motor has that much left, use any timing belt and you should be ok for 60-80k miles. The cost differance is not very much for a little more peace of mind.|||300 to 450 i would make sure you change all the tensioners and waterpump also.
